Rent Our Space
Are you looking for an affordable, centrally-located space to lead a workshop, teach a class, or host a birthday party or other event? Consider renting our space! We have approximately 520 square feet of indoor space with bathrooms and a kitchenette, plus a big fenced backyard. Please read through our rental policies below, then email us to get your event on our calendar!
Yawp Rental Policy
The following policy includes specifics about the event space at Yawp, 1400 Tillery Street, Austin, TX 78721.
$60 for a three hour rental for non-members
$30 for a three hour rental for Yawp members
The indoor Yawp space includes a room with space for 2 tables in the downstairs area, which can each seat six people, and/or couches and arm chairs. There is room for an additional table in the upstairs area. You also have access to our kitchenette, which has a full-sized refrigerator, sink, coffee maker, Berkey water filter, and microwave. There are bathrooms right outside the Yawp room that everyone is welcome to use. Additionally, your rental includes the use of our large fenced backyard, which has three picnic tables that can each seat 8 people. The furniture in our space can be moved around however you’d like, but it should be returned to its original position at the end of your event. Our indoor space is about 520 sq feet.
Set-Up & Break Down
Renters may arrive at Yawp no earlier than 1 hour before their designated rental time in order to set up and are required to leave the space as they found it. Yawp will provide an in-person checklist for renters to complete before leaving that includes a picture of how to reset the space.
Renters are required to provide all materials necessary for their event, however Yawp does have running water on site that can be used.
Our parking lot has free parking for up to 16 vehicles, and additional free parking is available along Tillery and 14 1/2 Streets.
Events held in the Yawp rooms can accommodate 20-25 attendees, if you utilize both the upstairs and downstairs spaces. Events held in the backyard can support more attendees, but the picnic tables only seat approximately 24 people.
You will be responsible for ticket sales and registration for your event.
Cancellation by the Renter
In the event that you need to cancel your rental, you may do so at any point up to 24 hours before the start of your scheduled rental time at no charge. Renters who cancel within 24 hours of their rental period will be charged 50% of their rental fee. Transferring rental dates are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Cancellation by Yawp
The Yawp space is one corner of the Ana Lark Center. In the event that the entire Lark Center is booked for a rental, any Yawp activities scheduled for that rental period will need to be rescheduled. If a conflict arises with your scheduled rental, we will inform you immediately and reschedule your event, usually with at least one month’s notice.
Yawp volunteers will be available by text or phone during the rental time should any problems arise. Yawp will provide the renter entry to the Ana Lark Center building via a personalized key code used for both opening and closing the Lark Center upon conclusion of the reservation.
Yawp will provide a regularly cleaned space for renters. It is the renter’s responsibility to perform basic cleanup at the conclusion of the rental.
No live animals will be allowed on the premises (excluding service animals).
All guests attending the event shall remain within the designated rental areas.
Yawp will not be held liable for any property left on the premises after the events conclusion.
Renters agree to abide by Yawp’s Community Agreement, found here: https://www.austinyawp.com/family-membership
Yawp can advertise your event (posting the event name and description on our website calendar and Austin Yawp Facebook page) for an additional $10 fee, if we decide that your event is in line with our mission. Otherwise, your rental will be reserved on our calendar with the generic label “space rental”. Any posts that the renter makes on social media regarding their event at Yawp must be tagged with @austinyawp.
